8.12.09

Matt came to teach tonight at the New Port Richey locale. We worked on butterfly guard passes - 2 on 1, the golf pass and the evolved flip pass. This pass evolved from the headstand pass and is quit tricky.

It is amazing how banged up I am from Monday's class. How quickly it takes to lose something and how slow it is to gain it back...

I didn't get a chance to stay and roll I had to pick up the little one from Karate. Should be able to squeeze in one day of training next week.

New Port Richey location

I am so fired up! A Gracie location 5 minutes from my house. The all New Gracie Tampa - New Port Richey location with none other than Ferret teaching. I heard Matt Arroyo will be making guest teaching appearances on Wednesday nights. It is wonderful to have world class jiu-jitsu right down the street!

Tonight's class was working on basic guard passes. We rolled through 3 of them our basic pass, the knee through (kick-stand) pass and the lift them (I don't know what else to call it) and put them on their neck pass.

After an hour of reps, I rolled with Ferret for about 30 minutes. I think he tapped me 5 or 6 times. It was nice to roll again and I could tell Ferret has picked up some new moves. I did manage to catch Ferret right off the bat with the arm drag, but that was the highlight of the evening for me. I took side mount and was able to hold it, but couldn't mount any offensive attacks. Not too bad for as little jiu-jits as I have had this year.
